MIG-21MF  Walk around

It is always surprising when you drive around in our local area, close to Basel, what you can see next to the main roads!

So happened to me, while I’m driving between Augst and Pratteln, two little villages, next to the river Rhine. I’ll didn’t trust my eyes when I sew a MIG-21MF standing close to an army outlet store. So I had a closer look at it and did some nice shots, as you can see.

The MIG-21MF originally belonging to the Czechs Air Force and was in an outstanding condition.

Build in 1972 (s/n 965210) and served the first three months in the 4th Fighter Regiment and later on been transferred to the 5th Regiment. In May 1991 they handed over the aircraft to the 11th Fighter Regiment. In November of the same year the aircraft went to an extensive maintenance overhaul. After the mayor overhaul the MIG-21MF joined the Czech Acrobatic Team “CASLAV DELTA” and performed in many air shows. On 10th of January 2011 the aircraft was withdrawn from service and guards now the main entrance of the army outlet store at Pratteln, Basel.

Es ist schon erstaunlich was da in der Region Basel am Wegesrand steht. Wer von Augst nach Pratteln auf der Rheinstrasse unterwegs ist wird auf der Höhe der Lohhagstrasse ein MIG-21MF entdecken. Die MIG ist in erstaunlich gutem Zustand und eine Maschine der Tschechischen Luftstreitkräfte.

Die MIG-21MF mit der Seriennummer s/n 965210 wurde am 2. März 1972 gebaut und diente in den ersten drei Monaten im 4.slp (4 .Jäger-Regiment) und wurde dann an das 5.slp (5 .Jäger-Regiment) weitergegeben. Im mai 1991 wurde die MIG mit der taktischen Kennung 5210 an das 11.slp (11 .Jäger-Regiment abgegeben. Im November 1991 fand auch die Grundüberholung der Maschine statt.
Nach der Grundüberholung 1992 wurde die 5210 dem 82.sslt zugeteilt die das Kunstflugteam "CASLAV DELTA" betrieb. 1993 wurde die Maschine vom  28.sbolp (28. Jagdbomber-Regiment) betrieben und dann im Januar 1995 an das 4.slp (4 .Jäger-Regiment) gegeben. Am 10. Januar 2011 wurde die 5210 ausser Dienst gestellt.
