The Breitling Sion Air Show 2011 was this years “Highlight” regarding Air Shows in Switzerland. Spectacular flying displays, fantastic alpine panorama convinced the crowds, even the weather wasn’t particular good. In fact the weather was very bad and rainy, except on Friday. We only can hope it will be better in 2015!

Display Teams

Display Teams belonging to every good Air Show, so happens too in Sion. Starting with the “Midnight Hawks” from Finland, followed by the famous Breitling Team, flying the Jet-Trainer Albatross L-39C and the Patrouille de Suisse and finally the PC-7 Team of the Swiss Air Force and the P-3 Flyer Team.

Breitling Wingwalkers

Incredible performance by attractive ladies high up in the skies, probably stopped many visitors hearth beating! Surly one of the best act’s at the show.

The Three Kings

Showdown of the three competitors, regarding the ongoing evaluation by the Swiss Air Force for a new Fighter jet, with there products, such as the: Saab Grippen, the Eurofighter EF 2000 and the French Rafale by Dassault. The editorial team was unanimously clear that the Saab Grippen has flown the best program. :-)

F/A-18C Hornet

Breathtaking solo performance of an F/A-18C Hornet by the Swiss Air Force, in the narrow valley of Sion. Der Display-Pilot der Luftwaffe, Hauptmann Ralph «Deasy» Knittel, bot mit seiner F/A-18C eine eindrückliche Show im Talkessel von Sion.

Flugwaffe heute und früher

Not only was an F/A-18C present at the show. As you can see, there was a PC-6 Porter and an Eurocopter EC-635 on display as well as on flying display. Interesting was the variety of privately owned, former SAF aircrafts, such as an Mirage III, Vampire, Venom and Hawker Hunter.
