It dates back to 1984 when a group of aviation professionals created the historical section of the Jose Luis Aresti Aeroclub.
In 1989 the foundation was established with the aim to gather as many aircraft as possible which have played an important part of Spanish aeronautical history. The collection currently has 43 aircraft in perfect flying condition.
There is a flying display at the first Sunday of every month, except for January and August.
The foundation has its own website www.fio.es and also offers memberships to interested persons.
During our visit, we were lucky in that the Polikatpov I-16 and the De Havilland Dragon Rapide were in the workshop, therefore affording the possibility to see parts of the aircraft that are normally hidden from view.
Es begann 1984 als sich ein paar professionelle Aviatiker
zusammentaten und die historische Sektion des Aeroclub Jose Luis Aresti
gründeten.
Im Jahr 1989 wurde die Fundation geschaffen, mit dem Ziel so viele
Flugzeuge wie möglich, welche eine wichtige Rolle in der spanischen
Aviatik gespielt haben, zusammenzubringen. Zurzeit besitzt die Coleccion
43 Flugzeuge in perfekt flugfähigem Zustand.
Jeden ersten Sonntag im Monat, ausser Januar und August, findet ein Flugtag statt.
Die Fundation hat auch eine eigene Website www.fio.es und bietet interessierten Personen an mitglieder zu werden.
Wir hatten glück und fanden während unseres Besuches die Polikarpov I-16 und die De Havilland Dragon Rapide in der Werkstatt. Dies ermöglichte Einblicke in Teile der Flugzeuge welche normalerweise nicht sichtbar sind.
