The Bristol Type 175 Britannia
was a British medium-to-long-range airliner built by the Bristol
Aeroplane Company in 1952 to fly across the British Empire. By the time
development was completed, "pure" jet airliners from France, United
Kingdom and the United States were about to enter service, and
consequently, only 85 Britannias were built before production ended in
1960. |

The production series of three
Type 252 and 20 Type 253 aircraft were purchased by RAF Transport
Command in 1959. Those in RAF service were allocated the names of stars
zu the planes, such as "Arcturus", "Sirius" and "Vega". On retirement
from the RAF in 1975, many Model 200 series were subsequently used by
independent civil operators for cargo operations. |

Die Serienmaschinen von drei
Modellen des Typs 252 und 20 des Typs 253 wurden 1959 vom RAF Transport
Command erworben. Im RAF-Service wurden die Namen von Sternen wie "Arcturus",
"Sirius" und "Vega" den Maschinenvergeben. Im Jahr 1975 wurden viele
Maschinen der Baureihe 200 von der RAF aus dem Dienst genommen und
