Einsatzgeschichte

The U.S. Navy used 10 Spitfires of the Mk. Vb and Mk. PRXI versions, in the European theatre of war, which were assigned the administrative designation FS-1. It is highly likely that these aircraft did not receive serials, and if they did, these serials were never carried.
At least two Seafires (MB190, a Seafire IIc and SR459, a Seafire XV) were tested by the U.S. Navy at Patuxtent River in 1945.
