History 

1847 NAS formed at RNAS Eglinton on 1. February 1944 as a single seater fighter squdron. Equipped with 10 Hellcat Is, it had four British pilots and eight fron the Royal Netherlands Navy. It was intended for service in an escort carrier, but instead was absorbed into 1840 NAS at RNAS Eglington on 20. May 1944
