History

1852 NAS formed at NAS Bruswick, Maine, USA on 1 February 1945 as a single seater fighter squadron. Equipped with 18 Corsair IVs, these embarked in HMS Patroller for the UK in May 1945. It continued work-up in Northern Ireland, at the same time converting the aircraft from a normal reflector gunsight to the GGS Mk.IID gyro gunsight, but plans for it to become part of the 18th Air Group in the British Pacific Fleet were cancelled after VJ-Day It disbands at RNAS Nutts Corner on 29. August 1945.
