History

1936 - 1940
No.713 (Catapult) Flight formed on 15. July 1936 by renumbering No.445 (Catapult) Flight with the 3rd Cruiser Squadron. With a shore base at Kalafrana, it was responsible for Ospreys embarked in HMS Arethusa, HMS Calatea, and later HMS Penelope. These began to give way to Seafoxes in November 1937, and by early 1939 the unit had achieved squdron status, only to los its identity when it was absorbed into No.700 Squadron on 21 January 1940.

1944 - 1945
On 12. August 1944, 713 NAS reforned at RNAS Ronaldsway as a Torpedo Bomber Reconnaissance Training squadron. Its Barracudas operated an anti-sbmarine course, and 'B' Flight acted as the Squadron Commander's Attack School, with a short course on dive bombing. 713 NAS provided Part III of the TBR Course until disbanding on 20. December 1945.
