The Fouga CM.170 Magister is a 1950s French two-seat jet trainer aircraft, developed and manufactured by aircraft company Fouga. In 1948, development commenced at Fouga on a new primary trainer aircraft design that harnessed newly developed jet propulsion technology. The initial design was evaluated by the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air, AdA) and, in response to its determination that the aircraft lacked sufficient power for its requirements, was enlarged and adopted a pair of Turbomeca Marboré turbojet engines. First flying on 23 July 1952, the first production order for the type was received on 13 January 1954.
Die Fouga CM.170 Magister ist ein französisches Zweisitzers Jet-Trainer-Flugzeug aus den 1950er Jahren, das von der Flugzeugfirma Fouga entwickelt und hergestellt wurde. Im Jahr 1948 begann Fouga mit der Entwicklung eines neuen Basis-Trainer-Flugzeugdesigns, das die neu entwickelte Jet-Antriebstechnologie nutzte. Das ursprüngliche Design wurde von der französischen Luftwaffe bewertet und als Reaktion aufdie Tests, dass das Flugzeug nicht genügend Leistung für seine Anforderungen hatte, wurde es vergrößert und ein Paar Turbomeca Marboré Turbojet-Motoren übernommen. Erstflug am 23. Juli 1952, der erste Serienauftrag für den Typ wurde am 13. Januar 1954 eingegangen.

Four delivered in September 1961. Although intended as advanced trainers, they were modified in 1962 with two 0.30 in machine guns as well as the addition of rocket rails.
