Schiphol oder Der Luchthaven Schiphol ist der Verkehrsflughafen derniederländischen Hauptstadt Amsterdam. Mit ca. 49,8 Millionen Passagieren (Stand 2011) ist er der viertgrößte Flughafen Europas. Schiphol dient als Drehkreuz für die heimischen Fluggesellschaften KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines N.V.), Martinair, Arkefly und Transavia.

Das Wort Schiphol bedeutet so viel wie „Schiffsloch“ und ist darauf zurückzuführen, dass früher am Ort des heutigen Flughafens ein großer See war, in dem öfter Schiffe sanken. Bereits 1935 besaß der Flughafen vier asphaltierte Pisten. Heute verfügt Schiphol über fünf Pisten, die 18R/36L Polderbaan ist mit 3,4 Km die längste. Mit einer durchschnittlichen Höhe von etwa drei Metern unter dem Meeresspiegel ist er der am niedrigsten gelegene Flughafen Europas. 

Schiphol ist von internationaler Bedeutung für den Luftverkehr und verfügt über zahlreiche europäische und interkontinentale Verbindungen im Passagier- und Frachtverkehr. Zahlreiche Fluggesellschaften, darunter die hier beheimatete KLM, verbinden Amsterdam mit Zielen weltweit.
