The Great Lakes Aircraft Company XTBG-1, also known as "Avenger", was a prototype torpedo bomber, intended for service in the U.S. Navy as part of that service's plan to modernise its aerial striking force in the mid 1930s. The XTBG-1 was outperformed by the competing TBD- Devastator, however, in addition to having instability problems and only a single prototype of the three-seat design was constructed during 1935.

Featuring retractable landing gear and a fully enclosed weapons bay for its torpedo, the XTBG-1 had the odd feature of the torpedo-aimer seated forward of the wing, in a small, enclosed compartment.

Die Great Lakes Aircraft Company XTBG-1, auch bekannt als "Avenger", war ein Prototyp Torpedo-Bomber, für den Dienst in der U.S. Navy als Teil der Service-Plan zur Modernisierung seiner  Schlagkraft in der Mitte der 1930er Jahre. Die XTBG-1 wurde von dem konkurrierenden TBD- Devastator jedoch übertroffen, zusätzlich zu Instabilitätsproblemen, nur ein einziger Prototyp des dreisitzigen Designs wurde im Jahr 1935 konstruiert.
Das XTBG-1 hatte ein einziehbares Fahrwerk und einen vollständig geschlossenen Waffenraum für seinen Torpedo. Die XTBG-1 hatte die Besonderheit, dass der Torpedoschütze vor dem Flügel in einem kleinen geschlossenen Raum saß.
