Einsatzgeschichte
On the 25. September 1941,
the U.S. Navy initiated action to requisition 20 Lockheed Hudson then in
producion for Britain's RAF. The Hudsons where designated PBO-1 and
where required for operation from new land bases acquired by the Navy in
Newfoundland.
Deliverd in October 1941,
the PBO-1 equiped VP-82 at Argentia,
Newfoundland, from which
base they attacked an sank the first tow U-boats destroyed by the U.S. Navy in WW II, on 1st March
and 15. March 1942.
Am 25. September 1941
requirierte die U.S. Navy 20 Lockheed Hudson die in der Produktion für die
englische RAF waren. Die Hudson wurde als PBO-1 bezeichnet und für den
Einsatz ab den neuen Landstützpunkten der Navy in Neufundland benötigt.
Im
Oktober 1941 wurden die VP-82 in Argentia mit der PBO-1 ausgerüstet, die
Staffel war die erste der U.S. Navy die im Zweiten Weltkrieg, am 1. März und
15. März 1942 U-Boote angriff und versenkte.
