The Heinkel He 59 was a
twin-engined German biplane designed in 1930, resulting from a
requirement for a torpedo bomber and reconnaissance aircraft able to
operate on wheeled landing gear or twin-floats.
In 1930, Ernst Heinkel began developing an aircraft for the
Reichsmarine. To conceal the true military intentions, the aircraft was
officially a civil aircraft. The He.59B landplane prototype was the
first to fly, an event that took place in September 1931, but it was the
He.59A floatplane prototype that paved the way for the He.59B initial
production model, of which 142 were delivered in three variants. The
Heinkel He.59 was a pleasant aircraft to fly; deficiencies noted were
weak engines, limited range, small load capability, and insufficient
armament.
The He 59 was built in small numbers each month from 1934 to April 1939.
Heinkel in Rostock delivered 41 series aircraft, while Arado in
Warnemünde delivered 122. Including the three prototypes, a total of 166
He 59s were produced.
Die Heinkel He 59 war ein zweimotoriger deutscher Doppeldecker, der 1930 entwickelt wurde, um den Bedarf an einem Torpedobomber und Aufklärungsflugzeug zu decken, das sowohl auf einem Radfahrwerk als auch auf zwei Schwimmern fliegen konnte.
Im Jahr 1930 begann Ernst
Heinkel mit der Entwicklung eines Flugzeugs für die Reichsmarine. Um die
wahren militärischen Absichten zu verschleiern, wurde das Flugzeug offiziell
als Zivil-flugzeug deklariert. Der Prototyp des Land-flugzeugs He.59B war
das erste Flugzeug, das im September 1931 flog, aber es war der Prototyp des
Wasserflugzeugs He.59A, der den Weg für das erste Serienmodell He.59B
ebnete, von dem 142 Stück in drei Varianten ausgeliefert wurden. Die Heinkel
He 59 war ein angenehm zu fliegendes Flugzeug; als Mängel wurden schwache
Motoren, begrenzte Reichweite, geringe Ladekapazität und unzureichende
Bewaffnung festgestellt.
Die He 59 wurde von 1934 bis April 1939 in monatlich geringen Stückzahlen
gebaut. Heinkel in Rostock lieferte 41, Arado in Warnemünde 122
Serienflugzeuge ab. Mit den drei Prototypen wurden insgesamt 166 He 59
produziert
